Lean On What You Know.
My current state of living right now is transition after transition! I have not had normalcy since February, but somehow, I am holding strong.
Honestly, my clients are giving me that energy and joy to keep going. Work is my sanity.
Surprisingly, I have not lost my marbles. Many of my friends wonder, “you are doing it all, how?”
Let me explain what I lean on, what I preach to my clients to grip onto a sense of normalcy as well, and why.
This may or may not be my own personal photo.
Just kidding.
But in the midst of a military move, a first grader with plenty of papers brought home in his purple folder (all must be saved and not tossed), and closing on our house, I feel like it is.
We do not have a system right now. And that is okay.
It is temporary.
We lean on what we know.
It will get settled. We will feel more settled. That is a fact.
So, “leaning on what we know”
What does that even mean?
Our bodies are so sensitive to change, especially women’s bodies. I get off meal and movement routines and boy, do I feel shaken up.
The best thing you can do for yourself in times of change and transition are leaning into the routines you can control. Lean into what already feels natural. What can we maximize that you are already used to? What does your first 15 minutes look like in the morning? Last 15 minutes before bed? 30 minutes a day. Out of 24 hours. Out of 1,440 minutes - I am asking for 30.
“But Sara, I do not have the time.” Read here: Just take the damn minute.
Trust me, you need it. I need it. Our bodies need it. The people around you need you to need it.
Can we do the same five things every single morning to start grounding your body into familiarity and safety?
Stretch my body (5 minutes). Brush teeth (2 minutes). Skincare (3 minutes). Get dressed & ready (3 minutes). Chug water before anything else (1 minute). Breathe (1 minute).
Our bodies know these things. Make them consistent. Make them routine. You will automatically feel slightly more ready to engage in the day ahead.
What can you do for your tomorrow self?
Here is where we gain some minutes back into your next day.
Fill the water bottles. Set your lunch aside. Pack your work bag.
How do you prepare yourself for successful evening rest?
Stretch my body (5 minutes). Brush teeth (2 minutes). Skincare (3 minutes). Get dressed & ready (3 minutes). Chug water before anything else (1 minute). Breathe (1 minute).
See what I did there?
Familiarity.
Bodies are sensitive
Familiar = Secure.
Bodies reward us for familiarity and security.
Give it a shot. You have got nothing to lose.
Hell, you already feel lost.

“You even made time to write a blog post this month?”
Heck yeah.
I write for you, myself, and my future.
Reach out, let’s find some normalcy.
